Our extraction process averages between one to two million stem cells per gram of fat. We normally process 100 to 150 grams of fat so this amount yields approximately one to two hundred million ideal stem and progenitor cells to be banked.
Theoretically - indefinitely. By banking your stem cells in a state of suspended animation through cryopreservation, our process will maintain your stem cells’ potency for decades. In addition, we will perform quality assurance testing on samples six months after storage and then at yearly intervals to verify their health and potency. No. A triple-failsafe procedure eliminates any possibility of labelling error. When your registered physician informs us that you wish to bank your stem cells with us, you are assigned a client number and link in our computers using barcode labelling. During the procedure, this barcode labelling will be on every item containing your stem cells at every step of the way. At the storage facility, your stem cells will be stored in a cryo-vial with the barcode on the outside. Then facility personnel will put this vial into a heat-sealed cryo-tube, which is also labelled with your personal barcode.
Your stem cells are stored in two completely separate locations to guarantee their safety: at our state-of-the-art cryopreservation facility at Adisave in Toronto, Ontario and at Core Cryolab located at the Toronto General Hospital.
It wouldn’t. Our process preserves your stem cells in the vapor phase of a liquid nitrogen freezer, which can fully function for days without electrical power. So, your stem cells would be cryopreserved at a safe temperature without damage, even in the event of a major power outage.

Cryopreservation is a process in which cells or whole tissues are preserved by cooling at extremely low sub-zero temperatures, typically -180ºC. At such a low temperature, almost all biological activity - including the biochemical reactions that would lead to cell death – are effectively shut down.
